Cameroon’s football federation is in disbelief after it was revealed that the sports ministry has appointed Marc Brys as the new coach of the national team.
Brys will be replacing Rigobert Song, who left after the Africa Cup of Nations in January.
Samuel Eto’o, the football legend, is currently leading the national football federation.
“The Cameroonian Football Federation learned, at the same time as all Cameroonians, of the appointment to positions of responsibility within the National Senior Men’s Football Selection,” a federation statement said.
The federation stated that the decision was made without consultation, and went against national regulations for sport.
They are currently seeking to understand why such an appointment was made without their approval.
Under the leadership of Rigobert Song, the Indomitable Lions made it to the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations.
