Cote d’Ivoire, African Champions, Bring in Fresh Backroom Staff

Cote d’Ivoire head coach Emerse Fae has taken significant steps in revitalizing his coaching staff following the triumphant TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year.

Fae, who assumed the role during the tournament in January, is now focused on preparing for the upcoming 2025 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations and 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

One of the notable additions to the coaching staff is former Cote d’Ivoire goalkeeper Gerard Gnahouan.

The 45-year-old shot-stopper, with 10 caps for the Elephants from 2002 to 2011, brings a wealth of experience as he takes on the role of goalkeeping coach.

Having previously worked with French Ligue 2 side Sochaux, Gnahouan will now strive to enhance the performance of first-choice goalkeeper Yahia Fofana.

Joining the staff as the fitness coach is Moroccan Samir Anba, who previously worked with the French club Nice and Morocco’s Under-17s.

Anba’s expertise in conditioning and physical preparation will be invaluable as the team aims to maintain peak fitness and endurance throughout their upcoming campaigns.Lastly, Jeremy Antonio has been appointed as the video analyst.

Antonio has previously worked with Fae at French side Clermont, and his familiarity with the coach’s methods and tactics will assist in providing comprehensive video analysis for the team’s strategic planning and performance evaluation.

Coach Fae expressed his excitement about the new additions, stating that this fresh lineup of the technical staff marks the beginning of an exciting era for the Cote d’Ivoire national team. The expectations are high as they continue their journey towards future successes.
