Ahly and Esperance Clash in TotalEnergies CAF Final

In an electrifying display of skill and determination, both Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly and Tunisian giants Esperance secured their spots in the final of the Champions League with thrilling semi-final victories.

Al Ahly staged a remarkable late comeback to defeat TP Mazembe 3-0 in Cairo, while Esperance held their nerve to edge out Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in Pretoria, sealing a 2-0 aggregate victory.

As the record 11-time winners, Al Ahly are favored by many to claim their fourth Champions League crown in five years.

However, they are well aware of the formidable challenge posed by Esperance, who famously defeated them in the 2018 final.

With the first leg scheduled for Tunis on May 18th and the return leg in Cairo a week later, fans can expect a monumental clash between these seasoned continental heavyweights.

Al Ahly, led by the dynamic Percy Tau, showcased their resilience in the face of adversity against Mazembe, while Esperance, guided by coach Miguel Cardoso, demonstrated tactical discipline in overcoming Sundowns.

Goalkeeper Amanullah Memmich’s stellar performances have been instrumental in Esperance’s journey to the final, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown to determine the new champions of African football.
