Gor Mahia clinches record 21st FKF title, defeats Muhoroni Youth

With a dominant 3-0 victory over Muhoroni Youth at the SportPesa Arena on Sunday, the race for the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League title reached a decisive moment.

Gor Mahia’s triumph secured their record 21st league title, cementing their dominance with three games still to play.

K’Ogalo entered the match knowing that a win would clinch the title they successfully defended from the previous campaign.

Benson Omalla, despite missing an earlier penalty, scored the opener in the 38th minute, setting the tone for the match. By halftime, Gor Mahia led 1-0.

The second half saw Boniface Omondi extend their lead just three minutes after the restart. Midfield star Austin Odhiambo sealed the win with a superb goal in the 65th minute, ensuring that Muhoroni Youth’s fight against relegation continued.

This victory kept Gor Mahia at the top of the 18-team league with 67 points. They still have fixtures against Sofapaka, FC Talanta, and Bidco United to conclude their season.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Tusker ended Kenya Police’s slim hopes of securing their maiden title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the new Dandora Stadium.

Kenya Police, who had been Gor Mahia’s closest challengers in the latter stages of the season, saw their chances slip away after losing to AFC Leopards the previous weekend.

The loss to Tusker marked Kenya Police’s second straight defeat and their seventh overall for the season, effectively removing them from the title race and allowing Gor Mahia to secure their 21st title with room to spare.
