Emerging Stars Aim to Upset Unbeaten Zimbabwe in COSAFA Cup

Ken Odhiambo, head coach of Kenya’s Emerging Stars, has cautioned his players against underestimating Zimbabwe as they prepare for their critical Group B match in the 23rd COSAFA Cup at Isaac Wolfson Stadium today.

The East African team, participating as guests, missed out on securing a semi-final spot after a 2-0 defeat to Comoros on Sunday.

Kenya’s campaign began with a 2-0 win over defending champions Zambia but was disrupted by their loss to Comoros, leaving them third in the group with three points.

Zimbabwe, having secured victories over Comoros (1-0) and Zambia (3-0), leads the group with six points. Comoros also has three points, while Zambia, already out, won’t retain their title.

Odhiambo stressed the importance of taking Zimbabwe seriously. “We cannot underrate Zimbabwe and need a perfect strategy to counter them,” he said.

“A win is crucial for our semi-final hopes, and I know my players are ready.”He continued, “Zimbabwe have been strong, and we must take our chances.

Being clinical in front of goal is essential for success.”
