Proud moment: Zebra Ssenyange Junior represents his country in the Kwibuka Genocide Boxing tournament in Rwanda

The echoes of boxing legends reverberated through the halls of Kigali Universe in Rwanda on the 15th and 16th of June, marking the solemn yet empowering Kwibuka Memorial Boxing tournament.

This extraordinary event paid tribute to the boxing professionals and enthusiasts whose lives were tragically claimed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Amidst the gravity of the occasion, Zebra Jr, the reigning national Super welterweight champion, stood as a beacon of inspiration for the young Rwandese boxers.

Embracing the opportunity to showcase his exemplary skills and heartfelt passion, Zebra Jr shared, “I am here to be a spark of inspiration to the young Rwandese boxers.

I am also here in honor of my mother’s heritage, so I celebrate the 30th Genocide memorial with the Boxing community in Rwanda.”Accompanying Zebra Jr was the indomitable Shakur Mugambe, captain of the renowned Zebra Boxing Club.

Together, they added an air of prowess and professionalism to the event, drawing the attention of notable dignitaries.

The tournament embodied the resilience, unity, and profound remembrance ingrained in the Rwandan boxing community, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all those who witnessed its power.
