Ghana’s U20s Fight Back for Draw

The Black Princesses of Ghana faced a stern test against the Mexico U20 Women’s national team in a pre-tournament friendly.

The match, played at a high intensity, ended in a goalless draw.

Both teams showcased their attacking prowess throughout the game, with Mexico creating an early chance in the 9th minute that was cleared away by Afi Amenyeku. Ghana responded with a chance of their own in the 28th minute, but Salamatu Abdullai’s effort sailed over the bar.

The second half saw an increase in intensity as both sides pressed for the winning goal. Ghana’s captain, Stella Nyamekye, came close to breaking the deadlock with a powerful header that was brilliantly saved by the Mexican goalkeeper.

The friendly served as a valuable learning experience for the Black Princesses as they prepare for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, which kicks off in Colombia on August 31. Ghana will compete in Group E against Austria, Japan, and New Zealand.
